A coon hunt drew about 300 children on Linnean Street Cambridge near Harvard Square. C Burnside Seagrave from near Peabody School fired a rifle at an animal in the top of a large elm tree in front of the school.

Forecast for Thursday predicts rain and warmth in Maine with a colder Thursday night and strong southeasterly winds turning northwesterly. New Hampshire and Vermont face showers possibly turning to snow and a much colder night with northwest winds. Massachusetts Rhode Island and Connecticut see showers and a colder night as winds shift from southwest to north. Eastern New York likely sees showers turning to snow with a cold wave Thursday night and winds shifting to northwest.

Coonskin Legend Ends in Cambridgeport Market

A hunter fired at a raccoon clinging to a tree limb and after five shots with a shotgun the raccoon fell to the street and died. The 17 pound animal was displayed in a Cambridgeport market.

Murder of Lancaster Cotton Planter In Dallas Wagon

I A Patrick a prominent Lancaster cotton planter was murdered last night in Dallas. Robbery is suspected after he sold a large quantity of cotton yesterday. The body lay in a wagon a mile from Lancaster. The sheriff s posse clashed with suspected assailants. Deputy Ledbetter was wounded in the shoulder and Constable Peacock in the thigh. Ledbetter presumed fatally wounded.

Memphis Steamer Ashore. Twelve Lost in Dover Bay Disaster

The British steamer Memphis, from Montreal with Captain Williams, ran aground in Dunlough Bay near Avonmouth on November 4. The vessel is completely submerged with twelve men feared dead. The crew took to the rigging while the coast guard attempted a rocket rescue. only the captain and part of the crew survived the gale.

Commission reports on Enterprise cadets inquiry findings

The Commission's report submitted to Governor Wolcott review the Enterprise training ship charges. It finds few charges proven and faulted Doctor Olcott for some lapses yet clear of neglect on board. It notes provisions adequate and care for sick cadets generally proper.

Harvard seniors selected class day officers after a split vote with Pi Eta backing a separate slate from Hasty Pudding Club and Delta Upsilon. W. L. Garrison won secretary by acclamation. R. H. Stevenson first marshal and E. N. Wrightington second marshal, both acclaimed. Other posts filled by acclamation. notable figures include J. D. Phillips who won a key committee seat. Gold men win in Ward II in heated caucus clash

In Ward II the Norton ticket defeated the Dean slate 820 to 711 ending the long hold of the Lee Barry Donovans Mahoney and Dean bloc. Ward by ward, shifts upset old alignments as Riley and Fay challenge the regulars. Ward 11 saw a big regular victory while Ward 14 produced a surprise amid a lively, crowded caucus scene.

Filibusters on Trial in New York Court

In New York on November 18, the trial of Colonel Emilio Nunez and Captain Charles P. B. Dickman for a Cuban filibustering expedition began in the U S Criminal Court.
