Fire truck crash injures driver in Hyde Park collision

Edward N. Bullard, driver of Ladder Truck 28, was thrown from his seat and seriously injured when an automobile owned by Jesse Tobey of Dorchester struck the fire apparatus near River and Maple streets during a basement fire call at the Church of the Most Precious Blood in Hyde Park last night.

Driver Bullard sustained a scalp wound, sprained right shoulder and severe back strain as horses on a ladder truck bolted toward a hill. Ladderman George Ide kept control after climbing the running board. The blaze in the Church of the Most Precious Blood basement resulted from spontaneous combustion in a closet storing oil cans and paint. Damage was slight.
