Death by chloroform in Haverhill woman found dead
Miss Annie M. Gove a 44 year old water works clerk in Haverhill was found dead in her Emerson street home from an overdose of chloroform. A insomnia problem noted by her sister with no signs of foul play or suicide. Police and medical examiner ruled overdose as the cause.

Six men rescued after engine failure off Deer Island
A 20 foot motor boat with owner Luke Hughes and five companions ran aground in calm seas when an oil pipe clogged. Patrolman William McKenzie and son James rowed to Deer Island to summon aid. A towboat retrieved the cold, drenched crew and returned them to Charlestown.
