Badger Golden Wedding Celebrated by Family Guests

Mr and Mrs Erastus C Badger marked their golden wedding at the Back Bay Hotel in Boston surrounded by ten children eighteen grandchildren and hundreds of invited guests. Badger a longtime Boston copper manufacturer began as an apprentice in 1843 and helped build firms Rice Hicks Badger then E B Badger & Sons with his sons Daniel B Badger and Arthur C Badger.

Evergreen Whist Club Holds First Regular Meeting

The Evergreen Whist Club met Wednesday at Miss Alice Connors home 569 East Eighth. President Jere miah Mackin led the event with helpers Misses Connors and Julia O'Brien. Moy Loy Held as Smuggler in New York Indictment

Moy Loy a former U S government inspector on the Canadian border was arrested in this city on a smuggling conspiracy charge. An indictment was returned in the northern district of New York. Loy, about 40, lives in Bennington Vt with wife and child, and was arraigned before Commissioner Hale with bail set at 3000. He pleaded not guilty and was committed after failing to secure sureties.

The Philippine resolutions did not reach the Faneuil Hall assembly as expected. They were referred to the committee on legislation and will be read and discussed this afternoon. Routine business dominated the session with travel card disputes and credential reports unresolved.

Aguinaldo Too Slippery Says Funston on Capture

In Topeka on November 16 Brigadier General Frederick Funston assessed the chances of capturing Aguinaldo. He doubted Aguinaldo would be captured, calling him slippery and noting Aguinaldo would likely slip away to Hong Kong when the jig is up. He predicted Aguinaldo would not surrender without his last card.

General Otis Reports On Aguinaldo Pursuit

Washington dispatch notes General Otis cabled War Department on American advance against Aguinaldo. Rain hampers operations as Lawton holds ample supplies at San Isidro and Cabanatuan while MacArthur rebuilds rail between Bamban and Tarlac and moves four battalions with cavalry from Aliaga toward Gereona. Insurgent forces near Urdaneta reported.

The Rev. W. H. Dexter, the missing Nyack clergyman, has been found in Asheville, N C. He claims he left home after an attack of mental aberration and that debt and worry drove him to disappear to allow his wife and children to collect life insurance.

Wesleyan Student Shot Self In Chi Psi Rooms

Middletown Connecticut November 16 Harry Inter Bugbee a Wesleyan University sophomore is in serious condition after accidentally shooting himself in Chi Psi rooms last night. He placed a revolver to his head and fired. the bullet penetrated the skull near the ear and has not yet been located. His home is Monson Massachusetts.

France chamber backs government in confidence vote

Paris November 16 The chamber of deputies passed a confidence motion 340 to 215 in support of the government. The debate grew heated at times after M Motte Republican denounced socialism, while premier Waldeck Rousseau urged unity and clear response before any party programs.

Sub Masters Club Banquet Ends With Marine Lecture

The Sub Masters' Club of Boston schools met at the Parker House for a banquet. A five member committee was formed to pursue salary claims for the late Brother Watson and his heirs. Colonel Henry Clay Cochrane presented a stereopticon lecture with scenes from San Francisco, Honolulu, Cuba and naval vessels including the Maine. He received a vote of thanks from the club.

Texas Battleship Texas Anchors for Trial Run at Cape Ann

Captain Sigsbee now commands the Texas anchored at quarantine yesterday afternoon. The vessel, coming from Hampton Roads, may seek a new anchorage in the upper harbor. Cattlemen Ruling Marks Passport for Return Travel

Washington officials report Commissioner General Powderly issued a circular requiring cattlemen sailing from U S ports to be examined at departure. A certificate, mailed to the U S consul at the foreign port of arrival, will identify cattlemen on their return passage, replacing a former form that could be misused by aliens not entitled to land.

Shidsouka tidal wave devastates Japanese regions

The Empress of China reports a Shidsouka tidal wave in Japan on Oct. 8. It swept the Suzukawa banks, levelling 50 houses and drowning 78 people. Many houses nationwide were wrecked by a typhoon, ships and boats foundered, and a passenger train bridge near Utsomuaya blew away with about 50 presumed drownings. 30 survivors were severely injured.
