Cardinal O Connell urged Catholics to protest governments lacking full religious freedom, accusing Mexico and others of a Masonic conspiracy. He spoke before about 900 delegates at the Catholic Federation convention in Roxbury, decrying atheism and calls for public action.
Bishop William Lawrence surprised Atlanta University listeners at Old South Church by opposing mixing of races while endorsing cooperation. He spoke after Edward Ware of the Georgia Negro College. his remarks drew much comment despite his stated dislike of the word segregation.
A Cambridge man identified as Frank M. Goodsoe, 23, was arrested on larceny charges after a police chase ended with his capture near a garage owned by Frank W. Mattheis, 422 River Street, Mattapan. A second suspect escaped, while officer fired several shots during the pursuit.
Theodore Marleau driving for Nathan Pernstein steered into the side of an electric car to avert hitting an elderly woman who stepped in front of the vehicle near the Greendale fair grounds. Marleau and Mr and Mrs Pernstein plus their son Meyer and daughter Hester suffered cuts and bruises.

Mrs. Julia Woodruff aged 62 at 29 Fairhaven Road Worcester tried to kill herself with iodine. This was her fourth such attempt by the same means. Daughter Mrs. Ida Blake found her after she drank the poison and she was taken to City Hospital where she is reported recovering.
The West End Rescue Mission at 42 Green Street hosted a Sunday breakfast for over 12 men of the down and out class. Daniel A. Mackay led the gathering with Frank Curtis supervising meals. The charity reports 5,000 men fed on Sunday mornings with 6,280 plates of beans and 10,000 slices of bread and 600 gallons of coffee served. Two hundred men have chosen a better life. total cost noted as $300.

Hildred Parker, a 15 year old from Everett, disappeared within five minutes walk of her home at 30 Chatham road. Police arrived quickly but found no clues to her whereabouts.

Nine people were badly cut and bruised when a car owned by William Brooks of Rockport struck a car driven by Robert Evans son of George F. Evans Manchester by the Sea electric plant superintendent on Western avenue. Brooks wife Estelle Johnson and Bridget Lufkin were among the injured. Evans’s party included four youths with minor injuries.
Fireman Daniel Kennedy leaped into South Bay after Bartholomew Flaherty, 22, of 21 Loring Street, fell from a wharf off 365 Albany Street. Kennedy, of Ladder 2, acted after responding to a three alarm fire at 16 Boston Young Men's Christian Union.
