Eggs Production Rises as Prices Climb in U S

Washington reports that egg production rose steadily over 14 years while prices also climbed. Census data show per capita output increasing from 16.7 to an estimated 18.7 dozen, with wholesale prices rising from 36 to about 60 cents by 1912. Wife killer slain by son in Ohio farm home

Lewis VanLuven 68 of Harpersfield Ohio shot his wife in the kitchen and was killed by his son Matthew 17 in self defense. The boy and his 19 year old sister rescued the gun and struck their father with its stock, killing him instantly.

Thaw's Chauffeur Held in $1000 Bail

Thomas Flood, the sixth of seven men indicted in the county for conspiring to free Harry Thaw from Matteawan asylum, surrendered and was held in $1000 bail. Flood was a chauffeur. all others have surrendered or been captured, except "Gentleman" Roger Thompson who was held in Canada and released.

Nantucket steamship struck by valve burst at sea

The Nantucket of Merchants and Miners sank after fire in Baltimore harbor in 1912 and was raised. Early yesterday a main deck valve burst off Handkerchief Shoals stopping the vessel, bound for Norfolk. Steam scalded water-tender Horatio Anderson, while 40 passengers faced a panic. The ship towed to Boston. passengers moved to Dorchester and Nantucket repaired with a new valve.

Clothier Killed by Exercise Wagon in Providence

Myer Potter once a well known clothier in the North End was run over and killed today by a fire department exercise wagon in Providence Rhode Island. The driver said a horse stumbled and the man became confused. He was about 69 years old.

Spencer Found Guilty in Murder Trial at Wheaton

Henry Spencer was found guilty of murder in Wheaton for killing Mrs. Mildred Allison Rexroat a dancing teacher. The jury fixed the death penalty after a two hour deliberation with an initial 11 to 1 vote for capital punishment. Spencer lured Rexroat to Wayne Illinois and killed her before placing her body on a railroad track.

Lodgers Driven From Burning Causeway Street Building

A basement fire at 15 19 Causeway Street forced 35 lodgers to the street at midnight. Fire started in a storage area used for second hand furniture. The street level housed stores and the upper floors housed a lodging house run by Thomas McNulty. Loss is estimated at 800 dollars and the cause is undetermined.

Collapse Buries Ten In Roof Slab At Cedar Rapids Building

A rear section of a seven story concrete building under construction collapsed this afternoon in Cedar Rapids Iowa. Four workers were rescued severely injured while six others are believed buried under concrete and twisted steel. Rescue crews used axes shovels and a steam derrick to clear debris as they searched for the missing men.

Workmen uncovered a skull from the Pleiocene period near Folkestone England.
