Roosevelt Consider Emulating Peel In Tariff Revision
Edward M. Shepard at a American Free Trade League dinner urged President Roosevelt to imitate Sir Robert Peel and pursue tariff revision. He claimed the president may win Democratic backing and cited Peel’s moderation and eventual reform as a model. The speech framed free trade as achievable only through targeted tariff changes amid a crowd of 200 attendees.

Bear Missed The President In Hunt At S Sunflower
An 0ffhand report from Smedes Mississippi describes a bear hunt at the President's camp on the Little Sunflower. The lean two percent pound bear eluded the President after Holt Collier directed a cut off, the hunt taking several hours with dogs, shots, and a melee culminating in the bear's death by Parker's knife after the animal knocked one hound dead. Camp life and guard efforts to reach the President are noted along with the party's movements and press presence.
