Market Declines with Heavy Bear Pressure Across Rails and Bonds

Stock Exchange dealings were the worst of the day as bear rumors hit major names. Atlantic & Great Western first mortgage certificates fell 5 percent while several lines such as Canadian Pacific Erie and Reading declined, with New York Central and Illinois Central little changed. Bullion totals at Bank of England stood at £1,0389,000 on the balance, with over £1,000,000 in consols sold and gold inflows from Paris failing to ease the strain. Discounts remained tight as bills were refused at 6 percent and Uruguay and Argentine issues led the losses.
