Independent Operators Reply to Mitchell
In Scranton Penn the independent operators of the Lackawanna and Wyoming region reply to President Mitchell of the Mine Workers. They contend current wages enable a diligent and skilled miner to earn more per hour than any labor class in their towns and to maintain a good standard of living, educate children, and save for old age. Some miners earn less only because they choose to work fewer hours per day.
