Wool and sugar markets show cautious demand and steady prices
The Boston wool market opens slow with conservative buying from first hands and retailers. Domestic wools soften while foreign wools stay steady. Australian sales grip demand. Prices for grease and scoured wools vary by grade, with overall volume down from last year. Sugar trade remains firm with refined sugars in good demand and steady quotes from major dealers.

Goodyear Campell Patent Case Heads Toward Compromise
In 1890 Goodyear machine users faced infringement notices on Campbell patents. Judge Nelson heard arguments on an injunction for five manufacturers. A November 24 hearing was set, with a likely compromise to compensate Goodyear and Campbell via royalties, while avoiding broad injunctions. The plan contemplates about 2.6 cents per pair, with Goodyear and Campbell sharing the amount. The five manufacturers face potential hardship if an injunction is granted. The Goodyear Company offers a bond to protect lessees, though payment across many defendants remains uncertain.
