Evangelist Sam Small Attacked by Saloon Keeper

Rev Sam W Small a famed evangelist was assaulted in a Atlanta barber shop by Sam Miner a saloon proprietor after Small had criticized Miner in a public speech for selling strong liquor He broke Small s eyeglasses and knocked out a tooth then bystanders intervened Small later spoke vigorously against the liquor trade at Prohibition Hall Miner claims Small earlier attacked him and his family with unjust charges.

Midnight train robbery near Western Union Junction

A Milwaukee midnight train from Chicago was robbed by masked men at 1 am. Fireman Averill and Express Messenger Murphy recounted forced transit and a bombardment of explosions. The robbers seized the messenger’s private safe. treasure boxes remained secured by combination locks. Tracks show six men fled in three directions toward Racine Milwaukee and Chicago.

LASHED UP HIS HORSES ACCIDENT AT HAMLET CROSSING

Andre Leblais attempting to cross with a two horse wagon loaded with hay near Hamlet Crossing caused a collision with the New York Providence and Boston train. One horse was killed, the other derailed the locomotive, Leblais was badly injured and taken to Woonsocket Hospital in critical condition. The 6:11 down train stopped within a car length of the wreck.
