The Republican leaders announce withdrawal of legal challenges and will accept the regular vote count. They urge Hughes to send congratulations to President Wilson as the national results proceed. Hughes’ Minnesota lead falls to 543, with Wilson likely to carry the state if guardsmen votes favor him.
John P. Dolphin, a blind catnip vendor who sold on Tremont Street outside Granary Burial Ground, died of pneumonia at City Hospital in his 48th year. He will be buried Sunday at Mt. Hope Cemetery following services from 89 Albion Street pending. His daughter Grace died recently. both were mourned by his family.
E W Pierce departs today for Fort Wayne Ind to assume general secretaryship of the newly organized Y M C A there. Friends and former associates in Boston Y M C A honored him with an informal luncheon at the City Club yesterday.
