Two Men Die In Queens Boiler Explosion

New York Nov 9 Two men were killed and one pumping station at Queensborough’s water works destroyed when a boiler exploded. Victims were William Dihey engineer and James Nelson fireman. The blast ripped the building apart bricks flew over a thousand feet and the boiler was hurled twenty feet from its bed. The other boiler lifted from foundations and moved a hundred feet. Dihey’s body landed about 150 feet away. Officials suspect boiler scaling caused the blast.

Unknown Man Falls Unconscious on Tremont Street

An unidentified man about 30, 5 feet 7 inches tall and 150 pounds was found unconscious on 5620 Tremont Street. Patrolman Wright brought him to Dedham Street Station, then to City Hospital after Dr. McQueeney diagnosed a fractured skull. The light complexioned man has sandy hair, brown hair, and wore a gray overcoat, patent shoes, black coat and vest, and dark striped trousers.

Burglars looted the Walker & Stratman soap makers office in Pittsburg early today. Two of four safes were dynamited, about $600 stolen and the building sustained $6000 in damage.
