Dr Alexander Mann of Boston led the race for bishopric of the Pittsburg Episcopal diocese on the fifth ballot during the clergy and lay delegates convention. Both Mann and Alleyne C Howell of Sewickley each held strong support but neither achieved a majority in both clerical and lay groups.

Fire of mysterious origin swept a three flat house at 71 Marlborough street Chelsea. The blaze started on the middle floor and spread to the third floor roof and down to the cellar. Five children were rescued with difficulty. Damage totaled 5200 dollars.
Early returns at 1 am show Republicans holding 216 seats in the House to 204 for Democrats with 1 Socialist and 1 Independent. With 13 districts still unreported, the GOP needed only two additional seats to retain the majority.

William F. Jardine guardian of Dorothy Gordon testified before Master Gilbert A. Pevey in Suffolk Superior Court that he failed to collect interest on four thousand dollars in notes payable to the estate. The notes were outlawed and permitted the sale of the Long Island home for taxes while he accounted for his guardianship.

Complete state returns from Tuesday's election show Senator Lodge re-elected by 8425 over Democrat Gaston. Governor Cox secures reelection over John F. Fitzgerald by 56 045 plurality. The remainder of the Republican ticket is elected by a slim margin.
