No School Deal Sparks Dept Clash Over Roslindale Change
Roslindale school turmoil centers on removal of Head Master Wiswall and Sub Master Stone from Charles Sumner School. School committee president Isaac Paul flatly denies politics drove the moves, saying transfers are common and no official knowledge exists. Critics accuse political influence, while eighth division chair Mrs. Kellar seeks clearer invitees to Thursday’s mass meeting. Wiswall, 73, was near retirement with Feb 1, 1897 set, and Stone was reassigned after rumors of a higher post. Ripley of South Boston is described as chosen for fit, not political deal.
