The 15 year old bride Sybil Hale Detrick, granddaughter of Rev. Edward Everett Hale, of Baltimore, is now in Readville with her husband.
In Readville Massachusetts 15 year old Sybil Hale and Burt Detrick 16 eloped to Providence Rhode Island and were married without family notice. Hale, a granddaughter of Edward Everett Hale and Detrick, grandson of painter William Morris Hunt, plan a Baltimore visit with parental consent.
At Quincy Mass a large oil tanker barge No 122 for Standard Oil overturned during a launching test at Fore River works. Two men were instantly killed and about a dozen injured as keel blocks slipped and the hull sank onto the runway while workers filled tanks. Several named men are injured or missing.
Boston area forecast shows fair and warmer conditions today. Rain is expected on Friday. Winds shift from southerly to northeasterly and intensify tonight.
The jury at Hull delivers a verdict in the North Sea tragedy involving George Henry Smith and William Leggett, killed by shots from Russian war vessels near the Crane trawler. Harvard and Tech students held a quadrennial torchlight parade last night that degenerated into a riot in front of the Institute. About 60 police and students were injured as crowds clashed after orders limited Tech marching line with Harvard's. Harvard led about 1100 marchers, Tech about 1000, with police on Walker Building steps to keep students off.
Police Captain Hall Testified that his orders covered Harvard men but not Tech students. He said the parade dispersed and Harvard men advanced onto the steps, prompting torches from Brunswick students and a mob attacking officers, while denying trouble with Harvard students.
Police and Massachusetts Institute of Technology students clashed last evening over control of the MIT steps. More than twenty injured as officers clashed with torchlit marchers, with about 50000 spectators watching as students protested the police action and near 100 officers remained around the area.
