In Paterson New Jersey at 10 pm Vice President Hobart appears stronger than in the past weeks. Mrs Hobart reports better spirits and he showed interest in current events. He read newspapers and discussed private business affairs as doctors monitor his condition through the night.
Congressman Henry F. Naphen III is confined to his home with grip illness. His sickness delays court appearances and bars travel to court, but a friend says he hopes to stump for the Democratic ticket by tomorrow night or Saturday.
Fair weather expected Thursday with cooler eastern portions. Friday and Saturday show continued cool, fair conditions with brisk northwesterly to westerly winds. Local forecast calls for partly cloudy skies, colder temperatures, and stronger northwest winds especially Thursday.
The Veteran Odd Fellows Association of Massachusetts held its twenty fifth annual meeting and banquet in Berkeley Hall. Leaders included John L Bates Alfred Pinkerton Nathaniel J Fish and others. Bates spoke on wars and cosmopolitanism linking progress through communication. Board of government elected with Nathan A Very as chief veteran and Albert F Caswell as additional director.
The funeral of Dr. Thomas lL Jenks will be held tomorrow at 2 PM from his Allen Street home. Officiants include Dr. George L. Perin and Dr. Stephen H. Roblin. Burial at Forest Hills Cemetery follows private services with a church quartet and pallbearers from notable local figures and institutions.
