Stra ws From State Street Market Report Highlights

The New York market opened irregularly with weakness in Cotton Oil and strength in Vanderbilts and Sugar steady. A late drive led by Cammack's brokers pushed the list higher, led by Missouri Pacific and Cotton Oil, amid speculation about Mr Gould and the Drexel-Morgan bull party. In New York the local scene showed copper strength and weakness in Thomson Houston, with West End under scrutiny and rumors of European Electric Welding Company patent sales denied. Bond activity was dull, while wine shipments from California for September reached 469,058 gallons. Overland shipments totaled 2,967,451 gallons through September 30, and the Trunk Line and Central Traffic Association ordered iron rate advances to 30 and 35 cents for certain routes effective Nov 18, with further shifts anticipated.
