Accesta Maine October 31 Detective True brought two noted burglars to grief on Saturday. Charles Berry and Thomas O'Brien alias English Shorty were arrested after plans to rob again. Berry had served three years in the state prison for burglary. O'Brien had multiple imprisonments in Massachusetts. They were caught after a theft at Fairfield and held on strong evidence.
Milwaukee October 31 C H Wells a freight brakeman in Rio disaster says conductor Hankey is fully responsible for the wreck. He describes switching actions at East Rig siding and notes the limited train’s lateness and a fatal collision as debris burned remains of three men found in the woods. Services were held for victims at Portage with many relatives present. Remains of two Catholic sisters were sent to Winona Minnesota for burial and the inquest resumes tomorrow.
English actor Wilson Barrett arrives in Boston by private car from New York to perform Hamlet at the Glebe Theatre. He defends his moral aims for theatre and outlines his new interpretations, including a younger Hamlet and open-air scene choices, while noting a three week engagement with "Chatterton" and other works.
