London May 380 The board of trade will requisition and assume immediate control of all stocks of tobacco and products due to shipping shortages and the need to economize supplies. This covers manufactured and unmanufactured tobacco including cigars cigarettes and snuff.
Emperor William thanked divisions at the Arras line for heroism in repelling French assaults. He spoke to delegations from the forces fighting on the Aisne and expressed evident emotion at their conduct.
Amsterdam dispatch reports from May 30 that the German Emperor spoke to Arras front troops saying the fight will continue until complete victory. He prayed for divine blessing so that children and grandchildren may live free in the German fatherland, as planes overhead muffled parts of the address.

Annie Barstow a 70 year old woman was knocked unconscious with a blackjack by a burglar who ransacked her apartment at 845 Boylston street. The attacker fled with 90 dollars after a single scream drew neighbors. Barstow regained consciousness after a doctor attended to her.
National League results include Boston beating Brooklyn 4 0 and 2 0. New York toppled Philadelphia 3 2 and 5 1. Chicago edged Pittsburg 6 5 and lost 1 2. Cincinnati ousted St Louis 8 1 while St Louis came back 4 2. American League shows Boston over Washington 4 3 and 8 2, New York 6 0 and 2 0 Philadelphia in 15 innings. Detroit defeated Cleveland 4 1 and 5 1. Other regional games include New Haven over EeRenees 10 4 and Hartford over New London 4 3 with a 3 3 14 inning tie, Worcester beating Springfield 2 1 and 3 0, and Portland winning 5 1 and 6 3 against Lawrence.
Three Boston men were saved from drowning when a fishing dory overturned off Swamp Scott. Thomas F. Whalen William Riley and Joseph Gleason clung to the bottom of the boat as Riley sank twice before being rescued by Fred Felton who arrived in a power boat. Felton then recovered the other two from the overturned craft.
London reports a weekly shipping census showing 19 vessels sunk out of 5487 in British ports, the lowest percentage since wartime submarine warfare began last February. The high mark was 1.05 percent the week ending April 22, with a prior low of .39 on April 8. last week fell to .34 percent.
The record for the week is understood to be highly gratifying to the admiralty authorities and even now the work of the United States squadron is referred to in terms of praise.

Presidio Texas May 30 Francisco Villa tonight holds a border port opposite an American town and United States troops patrol the border while Villa cavalrymen operate on the southern bank of the Rio Grande.
At about five this morning roughly 600 Villa supporters entered Ojinaga opposite here, firing as they rode. Government forces of 75 in Ojinaga, with 16 dead 6 prisoners and 3 wounded among 25 remaining, fled across the river. fighting lasted two hours and looting followed.
