Tokyo dispatch reports a Russian warship arriving off Iwami in southwest Japan and hoisting the white flag. Some 300 officers and men, largely wounded, are said to be assisted by the Japanese Red Cross at the scene.
Tokyo report says Rear Admiral Nebogatoff, former commander of the Pacific fleet's fourth division and head of the information squadron, is among about 3000 Russians captured by Japanese forces.
The Boston region will experience generally cloudy skies on Tuesday with overcast conditions likely throughout the day. Winds remain light and temperatures steady with little precipitation expected.
President Roosevelt, amid news of Admiral Rozhestvenskys defeat, met with Japanese minister Takahira at the White House and planned further discussions with British, Russian, and German ambassadors to press for direct negotiations in the Far East.
