Bandit Shakedown Ends With By-Stander Shot

A bold highway robbery attempt in South Cove ended with the bandit pursued by Special Officers Goff and Keely. An elderly man, James Flynn, was battered and a bystander, John Shine, was wounded in the upper arm as the suspect Thomas Gettington fled toward Harrison Avenue. Shine declined to report the injury at first. Gettington was captured after a chase.

Arrest of Leonard Lewis in Chelsea Fire Case

Leonard Lewis was arrested by Charlestown police for the May 13 fire in a stable behind 70 Parker Street Chelsea. He allegedly entered the stable lit a match to see what he was doing and started the blaze causing $6,000 damage and leaving eight families homeless.
