Powers endowment bill advances in House committee report
The House committee on insurance reports a new draft of the Powers endowment bill with unanimous approval. It retains fixed payments in some cases, waives interest for sick members, bans new endowment orders, and fixes surrender values at 50 percent before July 1, 1892 and 70 percent afterward. It provides representation in the supreme body, allows injunctions via the insurance commissioner and attorney general, permits dissolution after six months of inactivity, and omits expulsion provisions. The rules committee orders prorogation to June 10 and other measures move.
