Death by own action reported for drummer Solomon Leach
Solomon B Leach a South Acton drummer attempted suicide in his American House room early this morning. A box of paris green was found on his dressing case and a groan prompted staff to break in. He was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital and is expected to recover. He left a letter asking his brother Isaac of South Acton be notified and citing despondency over financial troubles and misused funds as the cause.

Frightful Beesting of Arlington Farmer in Orchard
Thomas Mead, a 30 year old Arlington farmer, climbed a tree to hive a swarm of bees that lit in his orchard. With face uncovered and arms unprotected the swarm covered him, he fainted, was sprayed by his 15 year old brother, then taken home and to a doctor in North Cambridge. Mead’s face and hands swelled black, he vomited but revived with restoratives and was out of danger by evening. Arlington residents recall a past death by bee sting in the area.

Cleveland delegates sweep Kentucky convention ballots
