Local Trials Report Mixed Rulings On Various Charges

In the care of Joseph Lagorio a jury disagreed on a city ordinance violation. Harrison G O Bowers was convicted of selling adulterated milk. Simon Swig faced embezzlement charges, later found not guilty. Samuel Swig was found not guilty of embezzlement. John W Fay and Edward J Keefe pled guilty to receiving stolen goods and were sentenced to 18 and 15 months in the Massachusetts reformatory. Frank Conboy and John J Burns pled guilty to receiving stolen goods. Oliver J Parquette was convicted of assault and battery, cases continued for trial. Eunice E Leavitt stands trial on liquor charge. Ambrose R Cowperthwaite pled nolo contendere to selling adulterated milk.

The Office of the Commissioner of Internal Revenue in Washington invites sealed bids by June 25 1885 for supplying cotton and linen paper for U S internal revenue stamps for fiscal year ending June 30 1886.
