George Glover Crocker longtime chairman of the Boston Transit Commission and noted lawyer died at his Cohasset summer home at age 69 after a weeklong illness from uremia. He led the transit body during his career and was widely respected in civic circles.
Mr. Crocker was born in Boston and educated at Boston Latin School, Harvard University, and Harvard Law School. He practiced law, partnered with his elder brother Uriel Haskell Crocker, and focused on conveyancing. He served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 1873 and 1874, chairing the liquor law committee and sitting on the rules and orders committee.
Karl B. Sanborn, scion of a Salem family and West Newton aristocratic school student, confessed to several burglaries in Newton and Middleton. He and schoolmate John W. Meachen were caught in the act robbing FE W Tomlinson’s hardware store on Washington street West Newton.
Armed with loaded revolvers and wearing masks, they entered the store from a back window and aimed to flee with hundreds of dollars in goods. Patrolman Monaghan, after a lively struggle, arrested them. Sanborn confessed shifting blame to Meachen and claimed sole responsibility, mentioning other Newton breaks when questioned about stolen goods.
James Skiff of 32 Chambers street was arrested by Policeman Roland P. Green of the East Dedham street station after a South End chase. Skiff drew and attempted to load a loaded revolver in public, driving away several curious boys.
Green heard cries and saw Skiff waving a revolver at Dover street crossing. Skiff fled south along Washington street as Green pursued with others joining the chase. Skiff halted and fired point blank at the officer but Green dodged the shot and quickly overpowered him.
A Calgary coroner's jury exonerated Pelky the prize fighter for the death of Luther McCarty after his blow in the prize ring on Saturday. The verdict clears Pelky of blame in the fatal boxing incident in Calgary Alberta.
Governor Foss yesterday refused the B. F. Sturtevant Company employees demands for a 20 per cent wage increase and improved working conditions. The action is expected to trigger a strike today as workers threaten further action. The governor did not indicate any chance of arbitration in his statement.
The international metal trades unions warn that a strike at Becker Milling Machine, Sturtevant, or Meade-Morrison plants could trigger a broader walkout involving over 1500 workers. Governor Foss and union officials plan a Tuesday 4 pm meeting to discuss an official statement, with promises from all sides to withhold public comment until then.

A British aviator Coloyns Pizey and passenger Hi Fellows escaped a fireball after a plane stalled at about 1200 feet. They reached the ground unharmed and left the craft as gasoline detonated, destroying the aeroplane.
An aeroplane in easy flight near the town skirts suddenly catches fire from a carburettor blaze. The crew, including Fellows and Pizey, fight flames, Pizey maintaining control and making a splendid landing before the gas tank explodes, leaving them nearly unharmed.
police and tenants fought to control a crowd of men at 290 294 Hanover Street to prevent women and children from being trampled when a restaurant fire on the street level started from a kettle of fat overturning.
Thirty two families nearly 200 people occupied the building. Flames and smoke sent tenants rushing to stairs. Sergeant Donovan and patrolmen Sonnaman Kelley Chaison and Horgan fought to calm the scramble and shepherd evacuees to safety. The restaurant above burned after the kettle and the fire shot up the airshaft. Most residents were sleeping. several were awakened by the blaze. The blaze was out in 16 minutes. loss about 300 dollars. No injuries. Dr Luigi C Morelli narrowly escaped suffocation but helped his wife and child to safety.
A 7 year old girl, Rose Corso, fell from a rooftop at 7 Norman Street during a game of tag. She plunged 60 feet to the ground and was rushed to Massachusetts General Hospital where she remains in critical condition.
On Norman Street Rose and Mary chased during a game on a roof. Rose leaped toward a three foot gap but slipped and fell between buildings, striking glass and walls. Salvatore Tuttura found the injured child and rushed to hospital where surgeons reported fatal injuries.

Judge Flannigan then ordered confinement of jurors until verdict.
In Marquette Michigan on May 26 a night session rushed to complete the jury for Theodore Roosevelt's libel suit against editor George A Newett. By 11 PM the 12 jurors were chosen as Roosevelt arrived with Gifford Pinchot along with Truman H Newberry James R Garfield.
