Juries to judge law as well as fact urged by reformers

A historic call favors full jury representation with wage workers, appointing juries as judges of law and fact. It endorses reducing work hours when labor-saving machinery replaces labor. The current ballot law is condemned as a fraud and profitable injustice supported by the Republican party.

The Boston Iron Moulders Union No 106 traces its origins to The Iron Moulders of America and through name changes since 1861. It reports strong non union membership reductions, growing applications, and Chicago convention plans with President Alexander McDougall and Secretary William John to represent the group. Trade is fair and the union is affiliated with the Central Labor Union. The Roofers Protective Union will appear next.

Socialistic Labor Party Holds Meeting At Union Hall

The Socialistic Labor Party met at Union Hall in Boston yesterday with about twenty one delegates from Boston South Boston Holyoke Clinton Lynn Lawrence Roxbury Fitchburg North Adams Taunton and New Bedford. N Wentworth of Lynn was named chairman and Max Plemmer of Springfield secretary. Committees on resolutions credentials platform and auditing were formed and resolutions urged textile strikers support and warned against admitting members on outside issues. The platform called for socialization of industry cooperative commonwealth and peace on earth and criticized Republican biennial resolves as a blow to ballot rights.

Gossamer Strikers Firm Endorses Meeting Report

The striking rubber workers met at A O H Hall Hyde Park to hear the strike committee report. The financial report was encouraging and Wilbur Page was released on bonds after an assault arrest. Three men met with workers regarding Klous and sale of goods, while new information showed their aim to break the strike. Miss Connolly, a striker, was killed by a moving train and the group sent condolences and attended her funeral in a body.

Typographical Union backs lifting of Crawford shoe boycott

Typographical Union No. 13 endorsed lifting the Crawford shoe boycott and will announce it in its monthly circular. The union adopted a dues regulation: members earning $20 or more shall pay 2 cents per week, and all receiving.

Union Opposes Political Agenda in Trade Body

The union declared its stance against introducing politics into the trade organization while outlining a wage-based contribution policy of less than 20 dollars weekly for members.

The sanitary department union Local 6064 A F L accepted sixteen members yesterday at 45 Eliot Street. By a vote, the Mayor, superintendent of streets, and deputies will be invited to the group’s picnic on July 16 at Lovell's Grove.

Obstruction on Dorchester Track Causes Near Collision

Police hunted all day for vandals who placed objects on a South Boston track that derailed a Dorchester streetcar hitting an electric pole. Superintendent Tripp said motives were unclear and suspects included mischievous youths or a grudge against Motorman Betty. The hazard at the Seventh and Ninth streets decline prompted caution for motormen.

Boston Prepares for Vast Christian Endeavor Convention

The Boston finance committee seeks $20,000 in pledges within two weeks to fund a July convention. Two large tents on Boston Common, Mechanics' Hall, Cotillion Hall, and a major central hall will host state sections, a 2000-person restaurant, and an 8000-strong choir.
