A Prayer for Peace in a Wounded Heart

General Winfield Scott Receives Public Honor in Elizabethport

Gen. Winfield Scott is welcomed in Elizabethport New Jersey with formal honors after arriving from Castle Garden. Alderman Franklin leads the reception and Scott speaks of his health and service, praising the diverse nationalities who served in the army and the march toward peace. He is escorted to city hall with cheers and a Battery review. a guard of honor accompanies him to headquarters.
