John Gorham, 38, a metropolitan sewerage department employee, is believed swept to sea after gas from Kemp Street main sewer knocked him from a narrow platform as he and three coworkers closed overflow gates. Missing two hours, a body not recovered. Gorham left behind several children and resided at 95 Boston Street.

An unusual list of disasters was recorded yesterday on both sea and land. Two steamers were sunk in collision with a combined loss of 39 lives, two railroad trains crashed together in New Brunswick and one man was killed, an auto turned turtle in Merrimack New Hampshire, causing the death of one man and injury of four, while another auto killed a child in Malden.

One man died and several were shaken up when the Intercolonial Maritime express from Moncton collided with a suburban train at Nauwigewauk station near St John New Brunswick. The deceased brakeman was John Casey of Moncton, married with a family. Much railway property was destroyed.

Collision on Main Track Draws Railway Crew Battle Over Right of Way
Railway men claim the crash followed an order two days old giving east bound trains priority over west bound. The express led by Conductor Coffey and Driver Storey struck a suburban train near the station after the suburban crew claimed the main line. Casey was killed on the platform.
