A Boston store announces an enormous purchase of the entire Spring stock of Suits from M Mamlock and Son New York. The event touts a bargain sale of 75000 dollars worth of tailor made clothing, with every garment designed for this season and sold at about half the usual price. Bargains proclaimed as the true meaning of the word.
The ad lists trousers priced at $2, $2.50, $3 and $3.35, plus regular prices of 8, 4, 5 and 86. It promotes cassimeres, all wool worsteds, stripes and checks, plus French waistbands and 38 available patterns, urging buyers to purchase now for future needs.
The advertisement offers bicycle suits at prices from $3 to $4.50. Suits are described as well and strongly made with popular patterns of cloth. The notice claims similar outfits are sold elsewhere for higher prices.
An ad touts a coat and vest at 7 dollars and trousers at 2.97 dollars as the lowest prices in Boston for good quality. It notes 3-button cutaway frocks and single or double-breasted sacks with guaranteed fast color and silk sewing.
Charles Jonquist reports his wife Annie Jonquist has vanished with a cousin, four trunks, and a large sum of his cash. He says she visited his Boylston store for money, left with no warning, then ordered an express wagon for trunks. He plans to seek a warrant and press charges. friends doubt his tale.
The Massachusetts House endured a wild night session as humor and disorder surged. Speaker Bates maintained control while Hayes of Lowell and Keenan of Boston amused the chamber with a prank note announcing Keenan’s arrival.
Alleged frauds in a city department led to arraignment of contractor Thomas Finneran and clerk Mulrey. Judge Blodgett ordered trial. a large crowd attended as defense argued bills pass through many hands and foremen’s reports may govern payroll payments. Assistant DA Mc Laughlin led the prosecution in a tense opening.
The Ancients held a weekly meeting to finalize June anniversary plans. A parade forms on South Market Street to South Congregational Church for songs, a sermon by Rev. Leighton Parks, and an ode by Henry O Meara, ending with a banquet at Faneuil Hall and a drum head election at the Common with Governor Roger Wolcott issuing commissions.
The $50,000 relief appropriation for distressed Americans in Cuba arrived at the White House at 12:30 today. The president signed the resolution immediately and will consult State Department officers on additional relief measures beyond last week’s actions.
Beginning today the entire stock of soft bodied summer shirts is offered at one dollar each. Shirts feature hand worked button holes French yokes attached laundered collars and cuffs in sizes 13 1 2 to 20 neck band. Colors vary and regular prices ranged from two to three dollars.
