Mrs Edna W Sawyer testifies in Suffolk Divorce Court recounting her relationship with other men and denying her husband Fred R Sawyer’s claims. Judge Morton oversees the proceedings as Edna delivers her account with emphasis.
A committee of workers at Sturtevant Blower Works and Becker Milling Machine Company warned a strike will follow if the governor does not provide a satisfactory answer by Monday afternoon. The governor met with the committee and urged secrecy, promising to settle the dispute, but did not specify the terms.
A vegetarian dinner at The Old Place Wayland home of Mrs W H Henderson president of the Anti Vivisection Association of New England. The meal featured no animal products and no cooking steps, marking a pioneering fruitarian event in America with any food prepared raw.
About 30 Garland School of Home Making guests in Boston attended the party for Professor A Levanzin who celebrated his 41st birthday. Levanzin, famed for a 31 day food reform experiment at the Carnegie Foundation in Roxbury last summer, was the guest of honor.

During two hours on the witness stand she described her married life with Sawyer beginning at his Tremont Street haberdashery where she was his bookkeeper while married to another man. She details the separation from Sawyer and her attempts to support herself by working in small Boston stores after April.
The testimony traces a woman who moved in with her mother in Brookline, held grocery store roles, and later worked downtown. She recounts her husband’s remark that she was strange for not testifying in a court proceeding, noting his regret over marriage.
A 4 PM meeting at the State House brought 1200 Sturtevant and Becker workers’ committee to Governor Foss to press for a 20 percent wage increase and a Saturday half holiday. The governor said he needs more time and another conference is set for Monday at 4 PM to decide how he might proceed.
In Milford at 6 15 p m a confrontation erupted between 15 police officers and about 350 strikers near Depot square. The clash lasted around ten minutes with rocks, stones and clubs, resulting in three arrests and three injured officers.
A state officer from Amherst detained two men after drawing a revolver and breaking his club. He held one man he had arrested while the second man appeared ready to swing a large wagon tongue as a weapon. Further details continued on Page 5-3d.
One fireman severely injured and two women overcome by smoke as the New England Iron Works at South Boston burned late last night. Ladder 18’s William Kelley fell about 40 feet from the roof and fractured his right foot, taken to City Hospital. Patrolmen Fahey and Callahan rescued the workers and others, including Mrs Sullivan. The blaze, starting mid plant, rapidly consumed three wooden buildings, causing about $25,000 in losses.
