Cornell boats swept two races on the Charles River. In the varsity triangular, Cornell beat Harvard and Princeton with a 9 minutes 26 12 seconds time. Harvard was second, Princeton third. The freshmen race also went to Cornell in 9 minutes 59 seconds, Harvard the lone foe.
The freshman race was closer with Harvard pressing Cornell to the finish where Cornell won by about one length. In the varsity race Cornell led early and finished nine lengths ahead of the Union Boat Club crew.
Louis Stackpole Jr. of 287 Marlboro Street Back Bay was struck and knocked down by an auto at the corner of Octogk and Ee streets around 5 PM. He was severely injured and carried away for treatment.

Ambassador Curtis Guild weighs a 1924 Massachusetts Senate bid as Republican factions brace for a possible contest. He conferred with the state delegation yesterday and plans a decision in Boston on Saturday, with a definite answer before sailing for Europe on June 4.
Political observers say Mr. Guild entering the contest would block a progressive candidate and bolster the Republicans in Massachusetts. Lieutenant Governor Luce declares he will not seek the U S Senate seat if Guild runs.
The Franklin Haddock factory at the corner of Mason and Water streets in Salem burned just after midnight. The wooden building, not in operation, housed 5000 goat skins and machinery, with damage estimated at 15000 dollars. Blazes drew help from Beverly Marblehead and Peabody.
An explosion sparked a fire in the ell of the A. G. Frothingham factory. Salem firefighters from the department and outside aid fought the blaze for nearly an hour, threatening the main plant and nearby tenement houses until about 1 AM. Richard Egan of Mason Street reported the initial blast after midnight.

Walter N. Roberts a dental mechanic at 12 Huntington Avenue testified before Judge Pierce in a Superior Court divorce session yesterday about alleged cruel and abusive conduct by his young wife Blanche M. Roberts. He supports his petition for divorce with multiple instances of mistreatment.
Roberts described a troubled marriage begun in Arlington on October 8, 1903 with an 18 year old Newburyport girl. He, a dentist from Portland, Maine, faced repeated assaults by his wife during canvassing trips and at home, including blows to the face, broken glasses, a bite on the shoulder, kicks, and coercive behavior affecting finances and daily life.
In a general order issued yesterday the Boston Elevated road notified starters conductors motor men guards and brakemen that after Jan 1 1913 ten hours pay will be allowed for each day of nine hours platform work and overtime pay for platform time over nine hours.
A timetable contest is announced to reorganize schedules under a new law. Cash prizes total near $3,000 with $100 for first and $50 for second place for the best timetable arrangements from rating stations. The competition closes October 1, 1912.
The US transport Prairie left Philadelphia with a full regiment of marines under sealed orders heading toward Cuba amid fears for Americans in the uprising. Washington acknowledged the action edges toward intervention as beef provisions were trimmed to about 10,000 pounds from a planned 30,000 due to inspection rejects.
The Prairie had been loaded with 400 000 rounds of small arm ammunition three three inch steel field pieces six automatic guns coal tents and provisions for the marines for their deployment and sustainment.
Denton T. Cy Young announces retirement from baseball after more than 20 years with the Boston club. He hopes to return if his arm heals but doubts that will occur.
Police investigators in Division 5 worked through yesterday to identify the woman who accompanied Mrs. Lillian Jewar to her Suite 10 apartment at the Hotel Baldwin 396 Northampton street last Friday night. The body was found Monday morning. Detectives pursue evidence on a possible female killer or accomplice.
