Rev Dr Moxom to Lead West Presbyterian Church

The Rev Dr Philip S Moxom was unanimously elected to preside at West Presbyterian on West Forty second street New York. His career spanned Cleveland Boston and Springfield where he preached at major churches and opposed city owned utilities. He is six feet three inches tall and described as finely built.

McDonald Transfer Trial Delivers Bribe Discussion Evidence

Salem May 23 The second day of the Thomas H. McDonald bribery trial features Charles S. Clark on the stand detailing meetings with Alderman Tilton and Lawton about McDonald’s petition for a transfer. Clark says Lawton offered money, Clark took $50 then passed it to Hoyt, who says he was tied to Pinkham and others and would not easily vote for the transfer. Hoyt testifies he received $50 but insists it did not influence his vote. McDonald admits giving money to Laubham for Hoyt but claims he did not know its use. Court adjourns awaiting jury deliberation tomorrow morning.

Gathering Wildflowers Shooting in Bedford

Miss Marion D. Smith was shot in the arm while gathering wildflowers in Bedford woods by a poorly clad stranger with a revolver. A twig crack led to discovery and the assailant, a recently released convict, fled. the wound is not serious.

Freight worker falls from car after wire collision

Fred August aged 38 a freight brake man on the New York New Haven Hartford railroad was knocked from the top of a freight car by a telltale wire between Forest Hills station and Keyes street crossing of the Providence division last night. He fell under the cars and suffered severe tearing lacerations to both legs though no bones were broken.

New Boulevard Planned From Mystic Lake to Horn Pond

Winchester and Woburn park commissions and local real estate men discussed a proposed boulevard starting at the east shore peninsular of Mystic Lake, crossing over via bridges to the west peninsular, then westward to Horn Pond. The plan would link Everett avenue to Wedgemere avenue and Wildwood street, with Woodside road and Lake avenue connections, aiming to join the metropolitan park system and include Horn Pond areas.

Harvard's varsity eight and freshman squad returned to the water for their first workouts in more than a month. Rockport Quarryman In Critical Condition After Explosion

Thomas W. Allen of Rockport Massachusetts is in critical condition at Massachusetts General Hospital after a premature explosion at a quarry damaged him with internal injuries. The hospital fears his death may come at any time.
