After a long day of debate marked by insinuations of improper influence and money, the bill to prevent the United Shoe Machinery Company from binding customers to exclusive leases moved to a third reading. The 128 to 84 vote included an amendment by Samuel Ross of New Bedford exempting labor organizations.
