Boston Blues edge Salem in batting heavy hungover across league games

In Boston at the South End grounds 4500 watched as two and three baggers dominated and Wise and Glasscock shone at short. Madden started for Boston, limiting New Yorks and Detroits’ hitters to five singles while Hornung Seery and Shomberg contributed. Salem saw Murphy homer with the bases loaded in the third as both sides displayed loose fielding in a high scoring affair.

Debate on Doctrine of Probation After Death in Mission Board

The letter to the editor recounts Noyes and Torrey being kept from missionary roles after the Des Moines board questioned their views. It details a contentious debate over a resolution by Dr. Noble disavowing probation after death, President Chapin’s amendments, and the ultimately cautious stance that the board and committee should avoid committing to a dogma. The piece notes eventual editorial interpretation that Chapin urged caution and discretion rather than explicit instruction.
