Three Die and Twenty Nine Hurt as Motors Run Amok

Miss Wood narrowly escaped death when a carriage she rode in was struck by a motor vehicle. She is the daughter of William M. Wood, head of the American Woolen Company. The state reports Sunday motor vehicle casualties total three dead and 29 injured with at least five others may die. victims include a woman and two small girls who were fatally struck stepping into the road.

Tragic Pedestrian Deaths Reported In Two Cities

Miss Margaret V Toomey ofFall street North Billerica died instantly after stepping in front of a car on Elm street near her home. In Holyoke four year old Mihalina Starczuk ran from a bridge span and struck the rear mudguard of a passing auto.

Boston Parade for National Preparedness Set for May 27

Boston's civic parade supporting national preparedness is planned for next Saturday May 27. The managing committee says public enthusiasm remains high and the event will showcase popular opinion in the city. Headquarters at 42 Broad Street open from 9 this morning as workers continue organizing the parade.

An open air memorial military mass at Charlestown navy yard attracted an estimated 60 000 attendees. It marked the first such service held outdoors at the yard and was likely the largest memorial mass ever held at Brooklyn or League Island yards.

Drowned Couple in Lake Auburn Boat Accident

Lewiston youths Donatien Bergeron aged 19 and Amanda Lemay aged 16 drowned after their canoe overturned near Frenchman’s Point on Lake Auburn. Hundreds watched as rescuers recovered the bodies. neither could swim and the incident marked the season’s first of its kind in the area.

Harvard Freshman Injured as Horse Strikes Brookline Car

Minor Justin Savage of Philadelphia a Harvard freshman was severely injured when a cavalry horse he rode dashed head-on into an electric trolley car in Brookline. He was hurled unconscious to the street and taken to Peter Bent Brigham Hospital with a brain concussion and other injuries. The horse died instantly. The student remained on the dangerous list late last night.
