Storrow Leads West End Club 25 Mile Hike and Cookout
Under a broiling sun James J. Storrow led the West End Club boys on a 25 mile hike from Camp Storrow on the Stillwater at Sterling to Fitchburg. They climbed Wachusett with Swartz first, dined in Fitchburg, and returned to Boston amid cheers and a bugle taps salute.
Storrow Leads 25 Mile Hike Under Heat With Frankfurter Tips
Mr Storrow explained to the Post how to boil eggs and boil frankfurters with constant attention. The West End Club leader hiked with the boys over Wachusett in intense sun, keeping pace at the front as tents collapsed and water buckets flew in the moonlit camp. The group marched 25 miles, aided by his automobile ambulance for luggage and occasional song.
