A campaign urges children and families to host hippo parties to raise money for acquiring a famous Baby Hippo for Franklin Park Zoo in Boston. The effort invites participation from both boys and girls to build proceeds.
Eight wedding guests traveling with a newlywed couple to their honeymoon were injured near Union Station in Portland. Four sustained serious injuries after their car skidded on trolley rails and hit an electric car. victims include Bernard Vaughan and Edward McGonagle with multiple fractures and other serious injuries.
Ernest Cote of 18 Central Street Haverhill tried to take his life by inhaling gas after losing 200 borrowed from his fiancée and 1100 borrowed against the family car in a Lawrence gambling club. Eva Cote woke to the odor, freed him, and he later disclosed the loans and mortgage.
