House Defeats Biennial Elections In State Proceedings
The Massachusetts House defeats the biennial elections measure as debate highlights public desire for two-year terms. Senate discussions on gas consolidation, Dorchester Gas Light Company review, and a substitute gas commission report occupy the agenda. Bills on a State House park, land takings for a city hall, and a constitutional amendment limiting town division are acted or laid over. Carney Hospital funding is rejected.
