Volume XLIV by Edward Riddle advertises a May 24 sale at 12 o clock of a three story brick dwelling at 51 Indiana Place Boston. Candles traded at 28 3c for sperm and 25c for adamantine. coal sales included 50 tons English cannel at 140 chaldron cash and anthracite retail at 9 per ton. coal freights from Philadelphia rose to 3 624 per ton. Cocoa saw 200 bags St Domingo sold before arrival at 4½c th and 6 months 5c y qe.

Receipts rise for Jewish Society in New York records

Receipts last year reached $17,437 for the Society for Ameliorating the Condition of the Jews in New York, up from $13,269 in 1853 and $3,221 in 1849, with evangelistic converts increasing though sixteen missionaries report no Jew requiring temporal relief. Samuel F. Butterworth is named superintendent of the New York assay office, praised by Evening Mirror as an excellent choice.
