Governor Foss awaits the Stedman trio report on Clarence V. T. Richeson's mental condition to determine if he can escape the death penalty. Drs Stedman Tuttle and Frost prepared three days of alienist investigations, with Foss receiving initial impressions after a lengthy conference.
The Rev. Dr. Cortland Myers of Tremont Temple opposes the proposed consolidation urged by the City Mission Society council. Other pastors favor combining First Baptist Church with Wa lden Avenue Church and Ruggles Street with Dudley Street churches. Myers argues for continued separate missions and an executive head, warning mergers may ease into a strong Bethel mission and harm independent congregations.
A lamp explosion at 24 Linwood Street, Somerville, left Mrs. William Liston dead and Mrs. Ellen O’Are badly burned, with Miss Delia Long likely to die. In a two and a half story tenement, residents included John Fitzgerald and James Wall. Cotter who alerted firefighters aided evacuations. Fitzgerald and Long were arrested on drunkenness charges after the blaze.
Christian X was proclaimed King of Denmark from the palace balcony at 3 pm in Copenhagen, drawing a huge crowd and cheers. Telegrams of condolence from state leaders arrived, including President Taft. The plaza became tightly packed, causing some to be crushed or faint.
At the Methodist Episcopal Church general conference in Minneapolis the plan to retire bishops Henry W. Warren David H. Moore and Thomas B. Neeley was approved by ballot. Warren 449 344 Moore 524 269 Neeley 496 297.
Theodore Roosevelt states the Republican nomination is decided. He says 539 delegates needed, he already has over 500, and expects to win enough from remaining delegates to secure the nomination on the first ballot.
A meeting of Harvard Club supporters in Boston settled plans to buy 27,970 square feet of land on Commonwealth Avenue near Newbury Street by the Charles River Esplanade. They estimate the building and land will cost $600,000 with a $300,000 first mortgage and a $100,000 second mortgage plus a $50,000 temporary loan.

Dr Stedman and two other specialists in mental disorders express that the Richeson case is both puzzling and baffling. Dr L Vernon Briggs visited the State House on Monday to file his report and briefly conveyed the main points to the Governor and Dr Stedman.
The forecast calls for showers in Boston and vicinity on Thursday and Friday, followed by clearing. Winds shift from easterly to southerly as conditions ease. Washington notes show New England also expecting showers Thursday into Friday with moderate southeast winds.
