Boston Waterworks president jailed for contempt in Illinois

Clarence H. Venner of Boston, head of the New England Waterworks and Boston Waterworks firms, was found in contempt of court in Sangamon jail for six months and fined $1000 plus costs. The judge refused bail or appeal, noting habeas corpus as the only remedy. Venner had previously defied court orders to produce company books in a Farmers' Loan and Trust Company foreclosure suit.
