Mayhem Charge For Punching Conductor In Hartford

Tommy Sexton a local featherweight boxer was held in 700 bonds for trial on a mayhem charge after an East Hartford trolley strike incident. He allegedly struck conductor Huglett and bit off a portion of his finger, needing a choke to release. The crime carries up to seven years in prison.

A man calling himself Dan Dean and confederates deceived him at Waterville after weeks of work including a Long Pond farm ruse. The fraud centered on two so called gold bricks and a State assayer impersonator.

Chicago May 13. Mayor Swift and Public Works Commissioner Kent consult with the State's Attorney on payroll stuffing. Ex Senator John F OMalley is said to have drawn 31 city salaries in wards 23 and 24 without labor. Proceeds allegedly divided with Hopkins era politicians. OMalley previously gained notoriety for shooting Hackman Shepherd and assaulting a bartender and faces indictment.

Italian Temper Brings Knives and Razors to a Love Rival

Luigi Sorrentino of 219 Endicott Street was arrested for threatening to kill Antonio Dilucia, rival for a young Italian woman. The dispute began when Dilucia won the young woman's affection, enraging Sorrentino who sought help from a friend and confronted Dilucia with a revolver. Patrolman Lamb intervened, placing Sorrentino under arrest on the charge.

Frightful stabbing in Hudson camp among Italian railroad workers

In Hudson on Saturday a drunken quarrel among Italian laborers building the electric railroad camp ended when Joseph Drafo stabbed Frank Gegount. Gegount suffered a scalp wound a shoulder cut and a groin stab. Drafo fled to the woods and Gegount was taken to Boston for treatment with unknown prognosis. No complaints have been filed.

Slippery Rock dorm burns. 150 boys escape

A fire engulfed the boys dormitory at Slippery Rock State Normal School in Butler Pennsylvania. About 150 students were asleep inside and many narrow escapes were reported. The blaze caused an estimated 35000 in loss for the building and contents with 20000 insured.
