In Suresport Louisiana a mob of about 100 men seized D C Hutchins from guards and hanged him in the woods after he murdered Will H Lyon at the ferry landing in Bossier parish last Tuesday night. Early reports from EaAstrom Maine noted McLean’s sardine factory shed and McLean’s and Eagle Preserved Fish Co. losses. Chicago described Anderson Pressed Brick works fire with 160000 estimated loss. A Shields Light Guard drill occurs May 30 at Wait’s hall. Roxbury Artillery Veteran staff includes names and ranks spanning 1818 to 1910. The MIT Corps of Cadets prize drill awards Company C. Corporal H Judson Tucker wins first prize. Sergt. H KE. H. Clifford wins second. Spring drill May 17 at Fall River. first brigade camp at Framingham starting June 15. Lawrence Light Infantry parade route from New Washington to Huntington Avenue ends at the Casino with 25-piece Wright’s Boston Brigade.
The Merchants' club met at Young's hotel on Saturday with all living Massachusetts governors invited. Eustace C. Fitz presided while ex governors Gardner Banks and Long spoke alongside Rev Dr Duryea C A Richards and others. Letters of regret were read from ex Gov Talbot and others as the club adjourned to the second Saturday in October. Middlesex and Boston and Massachusetts clubs also dined at Young's but did not entertain guests. The Agricultural club dined at Parker's.

It covers Casey the mill thief, arrests for jewelry and clothing theft, and burglars tools found in J.H. Adams’s store. It notes a Brockton water case with $200,000 at stake and a severe Attleboro assault leaving a man with an amputated arm after a land dispute.
Geo Ehret, 47, a section man on the Providence and Worcester line, was fatally injured when struck by an engine in Providence on Saturday. A 12-year-old Jad escaped from Newport county jail Saturday evening as Jailer Jones slept. The boy, sentenced to two years in Providence reform school for truancy, caused police embarrassment while being recaptured. In Providence supreme court Saturday, Judge Carpenter delivered a ruling on Zechariah Chaffee vs A W Sprague Manufacturing. Issues of fraud in execution of a trust mortgage and policy violations were disallowed.
About 1 P M on Sunday an unknown man leaped overboard from the Old Colony railroad bridge between Federal and Dover street bridges and drowned. His body, found about two hours later by Division 8 officers, measured around 6 feet 2 inches, with red hair and light complexion. He wore a dark mixed suit and had a card bearing the name John P Morrison and 105 in money in a pocket. The corpse was sent to the morgue.

Newton city park land on the French and Ellis estates sold at auction with prices 1550 and 1250 to church and Rev Gould respectively. A Chelsea man, Charles Adams, fired six shots on Market street Lynn in a dangerous spree injuring a passerby. Adams and a pedestrian were injured and Adams jailed. Commercial travelers nationwide are joining the United States Mutual Accident association offering up to 5000 dollars in benefits for a four-dollar membership.
