Forty five Mexican teachers who spent ten months at the Boston Continuation Schools were notified by the Carranza government to report at once to Mexico City. The urgent call is seen by some as signaling a more serious Mexico United States situation and possible trouble.
In federal court, Miss Laura Louise Johnson denied that Rector Charles Chase Wilson promised to marry her. Bishop George Yemens Bliss described her tale of romance as a silly flirtation and mad infatuation during the breach of promise case.
Minister Palavicini instructs Eliseo Garcia to cancel all engagements and drop plans and sail for Mexico on the Monterey leaving New York Tuesday morning. Professor Manuel Fernandez de Castro warns it may mean a call to arms or not.
May raise the ban on amusements within the Methodist Episcopal church as a sub committee recommends allowing members who play cards dance and attend the theatre to avoid expulsion. The report was presented to the main committee amid an acrimonious debate and action was postponed until Monday.
By a 10 to 8 vote the sub committee recommended deleting the clause prohibiting certain amusements and offered a substitute as part of discipline reform.

Mrs. Catherine Agnes Montgomery confronted an armed burglar at her fourth floor apartment in 363 Massachusetts avenue. She flashed a loaded revolver, causing the robber to flee, leaving behind the money and jewelry he had demanded.
A drug crazed robber threatened residents in an apartment building. A woman with a revolver aimed at his head, forcing him to retreat. He fled via rear stairs, jumped a dumbwaiter elevator, and escaped across rooftops while shouting he would return.
Michael Kelly aged 16 of 968 Columbus avenue and John W. O'Brien aged 15 of 6 Kent street Roxbury were killed instantly when they jumped from a outward bound freight at Heath street station and were struck by an incoming New York express. They had been riding the freight with companions as it slowed near the station and leaped as the speed rose. The accident happened at 8 22 p m with the express due in Boston at 8 31 p m.

Manuel Correira of Tiverton Four Corners Rhode Island was killed during a frenzied attack by Joseph Vizerois a miller. Policeman John F O'Reilly was seriously injured aiding the victim. Vizerois was arrested after the assault near Vizerois home.
Secretary Lansing announced he asked Ambassador Gerard at Berlin to ascertain the punishment imposed by Germany on the commander of the submarine that sank the steamer Sussex. The request was not a formal inquiry to the German government.
London May 12 John Redmond and Sir Edward Carson hold Ireland's future in their hands. If the Irish leaders agree on handling the situation the British government will accept their plan. A compromise could trigger immediate home rule, but Carson may resist agreeing to that extent.
Across England the belief grows that only an agreement between Redmond and Carson can end the Irish troubles. The two men are described as the twin pillars of Irish order and the sole responsible leaders who can secure lasting peace.
