Be More Salary Debate Stalls Onset Bay Railway Bill
In the General Court the Carrigan amendment to the small town school superintendent fund drew 17 votes to 16 with Boardman breaking a tie. The measure would pay towns combining districts $1000 for a $750 salary, split between the superintendent and districts, but critics said each school would get about $10. The Senate also postponed the Onset Railway bill amid opposition over authority and track crossing concerns, while prorogation hopes and other calendar actions filled the session.
