Fiercest battle yet in Juarez across the Rio Grande rages with heavy losses on both sides. Federals and insurrectos rest armed as darkness falls, with townsfolk wounded and a church siege visible from burning buildings as General Navarro vows to defend Juarez and awaits reinforcements.
The Boston and Maine Railroad cuts its dividend from six to four percent triggering market reaction. Traders expected five percent, but directors chose a sharp reduction. In Guildhall Vermont Florence Dodge testifies denying involvement in the Heath murder case.
The price of 1101-2 sits 31-2 points below 1907 1908 panic levels and marks the lowest point since 1879. At 110 the 4 per cent dividend yields only about 68 cents per cent income versus a 41-2 to 61-2 percent range for standard railroad issues as earnings records for Boston and Maine flag concerns.

George T. Matthews of 11 Hallam Street Dorchester shot his wife in a jealous act, wounding her fatally to the point she was on the dangerous list at City Hospital, then killed himself with a 38 caliber revolver. Police cite jealousy as the motive.
Matthews returning home drunk argued with his wife then fired three shots. The first shot through a window, the second into a wall, the third struck Mrs Matthews in the right breast. She staggered to a hall, fled upstairs to Samuel Upton’s flat, cried for police and a doctor, then collapsed. Officers Waldron and Edwards responded.
Alarm in Boston follows reports that Jacob Crowninshield Rogers of Salem resembles the unidentified man who died by his own act in Central Park New York. Rogers, a real estate man, had offices in New York and lived on Lexington Avenue. he could not be located. His sister-in-law asserts the death may not be his, noting a letter she received yesterday and that many men fit the description.
Forecast notes Wednesday generally fair for Boston and New England interior. Thursday unsettled, probably fair with warmer coastal conditions. Light to moderate variable winds on Wednesday, moderate south and west winds on Thursday.
