Gloucester May 8 Last night about 10 o'clock the schooner Serkara owned by J Morrison Fuller went ashore on the Londoner off Thatcher's Island and sank. valued at 25000 no insurance. The Serkara was here for the season and had just been slipped from Tarrs railways at Rocky Neck. She sailed from port last evening bound for Rockland Maine. An attempt to recover failed the anchors dragged and the craft sank. The owner and captain Charles Lawson were among the survivors. The crew of five and two others rowed to Gloucester and Eastern Point respectively. Tug Emma B Bradford proceeded to the scene.
