A Kalamazoo switch engine struck a street car on West Main Street killing six people and injuring several others. The car carried seven ladies and two gentlemen with the male passengers unharmed. Gates at the crossing were not used during the time frame, possibly misleading the street car driver, a new operator.

Judge Orders Gilroy Win In Public Works Office Battle
Judge Barrett of the New York Supreme Court granted Thomas Gilroy an injunction against D Lowther Smith to turn over the department of public works office and its books. A warrant for Smith’s arrest was issued if he failed to comply. Under Sheriff Sexton served papers at 11 30 a m and Smith surrendered the office and papers to Gilroy.
