Collision libels in US District Court over bark Andrew Hicks

On July 1 1882 a collision occurred between the Cunard steamship Marathon and the bark Andrew Hicks in dense fog off Atlantic waters. Hicks seeks $5000 damages claiming the steamer’s immoderate speed and bark faults for fog signals. Marathon owners claim $1500 for steamer damage.
